The small neighborhood of John’s Landing is one of Portland’s best-kept secrets. Tucked in between the West Hills and the Willamette River in southwest Portland, its proximity to downtown and expansive riverside views help give John’s Landing both its uniquely urban and charmingly removed feel.

First established in the 1870’s for industrial and dock workers under the name Fulton, the neighborhood was later renamed for B.P. John Furniture Company (one of the largest manufacturers in the area) and transformed into a riverside residential and commercial development by Architects John W. Storrs and John D. Gray. Homes here range from hilltop residences to single-family homes and contemporary riverfront condos and townhomes.

Businesses, shopping and dining are all located along the area’s major arteries, (Macadam and Corbett Avenues) and include the historic Water Tower Building, Zupan’s Market, Pier 1 and culinary favorites Corbett House and Aquariva on the river, as well as nearby OHSU, Lewis & Clark College and the National College of Naturopathic Medicine.

The 27-acre Willamette Park along the south end of Willamette River features an off-leash area for dogs, boat dock and ramp, soccer field, tennis court and the adjacent Butterfly Park Naturescape.
